Bonanza Presents: 'Countrier Than Thou'

Bonanza Presents:
'Countrier Than Thou'...
(Country Blues Americana)

@ The Lock Tavern
WEDNESDAY 27th April 2011

Live acts:
+ Hangdog
+ Bonanza DJ's

Bonanza's 'Countrier Than Thou' club night (Normally Last Thursday of every month) has been successfully presenting the best in Country, Blues, Americana and Roots Music for over three years at the Lock Tavern way back in the days when Country was a dirty word round these parts and Americana was thought by some to be a typo error!

Bonanza has consistently sourced excellence in traditional Country as well as the most forward thinking Avant-Country, Blues, Americana and Roots music with zero irony just good old-fashioned quality music and very good times.

Bonanza also hosts a popular weekly radio show on ResonanceFM as well as numerous other club nights in the capital.

Live acts:

Loretta are two multi instrumentalist troubadours from Wisbech and Dublin who have joined forces to fight the good Folk/Roots fight on behalf of us all. 'Our boys' Glenn Hodge & Dylan Walshe who are also proven individual artists in the own right utilise Loretta as a platform to rework songs from their individual past as well as to deliver a new dynamic previously not possible as solo artists. These new songs mix Blues, Folk, Country and all things rootsy to give us all something fresh in the vein of Steve Earle aboard a boat full of modern Sea Shanties and Celtic tales carried all the way from Dublin to London and back again.

They also recently performed a killer live session on Bob's Folk Show on RadioWey.

Expect to be entranced and entertained with their captivating tales from an act likened to such diverse artists as Billy Childish and Mississippi John Hurt in equal measures or indeed any of the original Bluesmen like Leadbelly, Sonny Boy Williamson or even Robert Johnson as well as Post-Modern troubadours like Nick Cave at his most Roots-based and even a smarttering of Dylan-esque witticisms. High praise indeed... 'because they're worth it'.

If Son Of Dave got kicked out of a nightclub for being too drunk and getting into a fight with Doctor John; Tom Waits and Howling Wolf are the bouncers who escort him onto the Lock Tavern stage tonight yeeeeeeeah!
He also runs the (Sunday) Revelator collective, makes his own effects boxes (which he will use tonight) and he lives on a boat... 'Fuck em up!'
