Each month Bonanza & Filthy MacNastys pay homage to the icons, innovators, outlaws, renegades and mavericks who in the name of their art went further than the rest and paid the 'ultimate' price...

As we say around these parts:

On Sat 2nd April 2011 we will pay tribute to the ‘Lady Day’ herself, Jazz and Blues crooning legend ‘Billie Holiday (April 7,1915 – July 17th 1959)

We will celebrate the musical and social phenomenon that is Billie Holiday her short, sweet, sad little life + those she influenced and those she was influenced by with bands, djs, visuals and film projections.

Playing live and perfoming unique versions of Billie Holiday songs will be 'Eighties Match Box B-Line Disaster' axeman Screaming Tupelo AKA Dominik Knight.

Yet another Bonanza discovery; a one-man primal, pounding barrage master of dirty fuzz comes on sounding like a pent-up, musical Mother Theresa blaspheming in the face of a zombie Elvis freshly risen from the grave whilst cavemen beat the shit out of a wooly mammoth.

His talent has not gone un-noticed and now he plays axe with the Eighties Matchbox B Line Disaster... In his One Man Band incarnation he appears to have been raised at the altar of Elvis and The Cramps, baptised in the fire of the Sonics, retro-fuzz and primitive stomp! Screaming Tupelo is a one man ear-pounding, heart-thumping Blues-punk evangelist, delivering his testimony of raw blood and tears, sweat-soaked rock’n’roll straight to/from Hell. He will of course delight us with his own inimitable rendition of a number of Billie Holidays beautiful songs.
