The film documents the work of a group of studio musicians in 60’s California who played on some of the most famous songs ever & changed the face of popular music. Songs you would have hitherto assumed were played by the actual bands including The Beach Boys, Elvis, The Byrds, Bing Crosby, The Monkees. Other notable artists employing the Wrecking Crew's talents include Nancy Sinatra, Bobby Vee, The Partridge Family, The Mamas & The Papas, The Carpenters, The 5th Dimension, John Denver, Simon & Garfunkel and Nat King Cole as well as top producers including Phil Spector and Lee Hazlewood.
The Wrecking Crew also worked on many of Glen Campbell’s classics and Campbell himself was an early member of The Wrecking Crew as well as Denny’s Father and ace guitarist Tommy Tedesco. Other stalwart musicians in The Wrecking Crew included Al Casey, Carol Kaye, Billy Strange, Howard Roberts, James Burton, Leon Russell, Mac Rebennack (aka Dr. John), Carol Kaye, Ray Pohlman, Bill Pitman, Hal Blaine, Earl Palmer, Jim Gordon and Jack Nitzsche.
The film is truly awe-inspiring & a mind-blowing story that needs to be told. It’s an overwhelming ear & eye-opening experience like a Rock ’N’ Roll rollercoaster around the musical Universe. I will NEVER listen to music in quite the same way again.
+ live session from North Carolina’s Greg Humphreys.
+ our usual features, 'well what we could fit in, that is, as our guests were so engrossing. Great show!
