This weeks fun...

Howdy Folks,
we hope this bulletin finds you well.

It’s another busy and exciting week ahead for Bonanza & Son…

Firstly tonight we are once again guest DJ’s at The Country Soul Sessions at Nambucca. The CSS boys have a great line-up as always with Bob Collum & the Welfare Mothers + Northern troubadour Mark Wynn + the house band Drew Morrison & the Darkwood. Bonanza & Son will be also be screening Americana, cinematic curios including Alex Cox’ revisionist, Acid Western ’Straight To Hell'.

On Wednesday it’s our weekly radio show and we are very excited to have Leonard Cohen and Neil Young biographer Sylvie Simmons in the studio to talk about her books and also perform a live session. Expect the unexpected with Leonard Cohen songs beautifully renditioned on Sylvie’s Ukelele.
Tune in on 104.4FM in London or www.resonancefm.com at 4:30pm (repeated Sunday 30th June at 11am)

On Thursday night it is our monthly flagship night ‘Countrier Than Thou’ which has moved into it’s sixth year of presenting the best Americana around on the Lock Tavern stage in Camden. We have a great line-up, see details below...

Finally on Friday night we are djing at the 3 Crowns on Stoke Newington Church St with a mixed bag of Rock ’n’ Roll genius from Dolly Parton to Daft Punk and back to Dylan.
9-2am Free Entry.

We hope to see your smily faces at one or all of these events,
Peace, love and happiness to you and your pets.
Bonanza & Son.

Live acts:

Turnstile Junkpile:
A welcome return to the these Townes Van Zandt named cowboys whose well honed and authentic sound has been causing a stir on the London Americana scene. Turnstile Junkpile’s songs possess an authenticity that belies their origins of the deep South… of England! There are strong elements of Bluegrass, Country and Southern Rock as well as 60’s Psych’ inflections and Cosmic backwards guitar… From the Country-fuelled 'Time is Running Out' that opens their debut album through to the aggressive, sweaty charm of the title track, ‘Everything Is Cheaper Than It Looks’, the record has a depth and diversity of Americana grooves influenced by the best of the 60’s and 70’s with a Southern twang that is equally and at the same time beautiful, nasty, sweet, dirty and gritty.
Turnstile Junkpile were also the toast of Mojo Magazine recently having had their album placed on the magazine’s ‘Essential Playlist’. Nice work boys!

+The Elasticated Waste Band:
A welcome return for our favourite 9 piece raggle-taggle, travelling minstrel ensemble of Banjo pickers, Penny whistle slickers, Howlin' Slim Harmonica Lickers, Eukelele flickers, Fiddle diddlers, crooners, swooners that all make for a veritable old-timey, medicine show of freaky, Louisianna style rag-time Punk-Band!
The Elasticated Waste Band's sound also collides drunkenly but always majestically into vintage pre-War Blues, Hillbilly, Bluegrass and even Rootsy-Tootsy Ska workouts!
Watch all 9 of these guys take to the tiny Lock Tavern stage and show you just 'how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall!'... Righteous!
