Appaloosa 2008

Me and the boy watched ‘Appaloosa' last night. As good and as thrilling a Western as any we’ve seen from 2008 starring and very ably directed by Ed Harris with an equally great performance from Viggo Mortensen.

We were also very pleasantly surprised to find this song by Mudcrutch nestled nicely in the soundtrack…

Ed Harris excels by also penning and singing ‘You’ll Never Leave My Heart’ also featured in the soundtrack.

Bonanza & Son top 25 albums of 2013 Mix...

Ok Folks,
Bonanza & Son have put together our promised ‘End Of Year Mix’ celebrating everything that we loved in 2013 and certainly the best 25 albums that we heard last year.

The 25 are in no particular order but Jonathan Wilson's ‘Fanfare’ is in the No.1 spot by a Country Mile… and several Cosmic light years also… Nothing came close for us and it is certainly the best album we have bought on release since we began buying records; some 35 or so years ago.

In second place was Daft Punk - Random Access Memories which may come as a surprise to some people but to our ears it is an epic piece of work and stands , shoulder to shoulder, with some of the classic albums of the past…

The remaining 23 albums have all been on regular rotation at Bonanza & Son HQ since their release throughout the year and will remain so for some time to come…

Special mention has to go to Kurt Vile for his sublime ‘Waking On A Pretty Daze’, Jonny Fritz for his Avant-Country classic ‘Dad Country’ and Sleaford Mods for creating something quite unlike anything else that is being done.

Music has never been more vibrant with vinyl sales up year on year and more and more titles being released in the only format worth its salt.

We are so very excited by the potential prospect of an even better year in 2014 and with that we have a number of New Years Resolutions one of which is to buy at least one brand new released LP per week because we know there will be many worthy albums released week on week...

We will of course be crate-digging the old stuff as normal alongside and documenting the Americana, Country and Roots element of both on our radio show every Wednesday at 4:30pm on Bonanza & Son on ResonanceFM… The other stuff we will be spinning each and EVERY time we DJ.

We hope you enjoy the Mix and we wish you a very peaceful and productive New Year 2014. Just click the link below...

Peace and love to all…
Bonanza & Son… X
