Live acts:

Turnstile Junkpile:
A welcome return to the these Townes Van Zandt named cowboys whose well honed and authentic sound has been causing a stir on the London Americana scene. Turnstile Junkpile’s songs possess an authenticity that belies their origins of the deep South… of England! There are strong elements of Bluegrass, Country and Southern Rock as well as 60’s Psych’ inflections and Cosmic backwards guitar… From the Country-fuelled 'Time is Running Out' that opens their debut album through to the aggressive, sweaty charm of the title track, ‘Everything Is Cheaper Than It Looks’, the record has a depth and diversity of Americana grooves influenced by the best of the 60’s and 70’s with a Southern twang that is equally and at the same time beautiful, nasty, sweet, dirty and gritty.
Turnstile Junkpile were also the toast of Mojo Magazine recently having had their album placed on the magazine’s ‘Essential Playlist’. Nice work boys!

+The Elasticated Waste Band:
A welcome return for our favourite 9 piece raggle-taggle, travelling minstrel ensemble of Banjo pickers, Penny whistle slickers, Howlin' Slim Harmonica Lickers, Eukelele flickers, Fiddle diddlers, crooners, swooners that all make for a veritable old-timey, medicine show of freaky, Louisianna style rag-time Punk-Band!
The Elasticated Waste Band's sound also collides drunkenly but always majestically into vintage pre-War Blues, Hillbilly, Bluegrass and even Rootsy-Tootsy Ska workouts!
Watch all 9 of these guys take to the tiny Lock Tavern stage and show you just 'how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall!'... Righteous!

+Bonanza & Son (ResonanceFM) DJ Set:
Radio Presenters, DJs and Club night promoters playing traditional as well as the most cutting edge examples of Americana and Country with a few oddities to twist your heads.

Bonanza & Son will be screening rare, cinematic, Americana curios for your visual stimulation and pleasure. We will be screening Sydney Pollacks ’The Electric Horseman’ from 1979 starring Robert Redford, Jane Fonda and Willie Nelson... Also expect Acid Westerns, Revisionist Americana and Spaghetti Westerns.

+ Guest dj

Sylvie Simmonds author of Leonard Cohen biography on ResonanceFM this week...

So in the ongoing and continued saga of fate, coincidences of coincidences and serendipity galore for Bonanza & Son on ResonanceFM my Son bought me the Leonard Cohen biography ‘I’m Your Man' for Fathers Day last Sunday, two days later I notice that the books author Sylvie Simmons is in town to perform a book reading and performance of Cohen's songs at the 12 Bar club on Wednesday evening so I get in touch with the lovely lady and lo and behold Sylvie will be on our radio show on ResonanceFM on Wednesday Afternoon at 4:30pm to regale us with tales of his Highness, read from her fantastic book and perform a few of Leonard's majestic songs on her Ukulele.

Oh and just at the moment that we confirmed all this yesterday afternoon we walked out of a film at the Cineworld up at The O2 stadium and guess who was performing live… Uncanny!

Tune in on Wednesday at 4:30pm on 104.4FM in London or www.resonancefm.com
